• We measure from the centre of your postcode to the centre of the school’s postcode. Schools and councils measure from your home to a set point (for example the main entrance) with their own maps. So a result close to a limit could go either way.
• “Last distance offered” is how far away the last child offered a place lived on offer day (1 March). It is a guide from past years only. It changes every year, and it only counts for children who reach the test standard.
• Many schools do not use distance at all. Some use postcode areas or test scores only. Read each school’s rule.
• To double-check a distance, use the Free Map Tools distance checker.
• Always read the school’s 2027 admission policy before you apply. Rules can change each year.
