The assessments
Consortium test
The London 11+ Consortium test: one online test of about 100 minutes, usually taken at the child's own school. It covers Maths, non-verbal reasoning, English, verbal reasoning, problem solving and creative comprehension. Some sections adapt to the child's answers.
Interview
Interviews on 15 January 2027. A reference is requested.
How offers are made
Consortium schools send offers on the same day in February.
Scholarships and bursaries
- Music scholarships only at 11+.
- Means-tested bursaries (apply by 13 November 2026).
How to help your child prepare
- Consortium test. It is online and timed in short sections. Practise reading carefully on screen, quick Maths and reasoning, and short creative answers.
- Interview. Help your child talk about their interests, the books they read and how they solved a problem. There is no need to learn answers by heart.
- Read every day. Wide reading builds the vocabulary and comprehension every entrance test needs.
- Practice material: Familiarisation material is published by the London 11+ Consortium.
Common questions from parents
Is there a written English paper?
No separate paper. The Consortium test includes English and creative comprehension sections.
Can we apply to several schools?
Yes. Many families apply to a few independent schools and grammar schools. Watch the different registration deadlines.
Official information
Always check the school's own pages before making decisions. Dates and arrangements can change each year.
