How to prepare for the Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE Boys) 11+

Queen Elizabeth's School in Barnet (often called QE Boys) is a selective boys' grammar school with 180 Year 7 places.

• Test request form opens: 1 May 2026
• Deadline: 8 July 2026 (noon)
• Tests: 16 and 17 September 2026
• Results: 1 October 2026

What is in the test?

One sitting with two multiple-choice papers: Maths and English.

The standard and how places are given

A score of 225 or higher meets the school's standard. There is no catchment area. The school's FAQ says there is no priority for siblings or Pupil Premium, and distance is only used to separate equal scores. In practice, places go to the highest scorers.

How to prepare

• Strong, fast Maths, including problem solving beyond the basics.
• English comprehension and vocabulary, practised in multiple-choice format.
• Timed practice with separate answer sheets.
