Notting Hill & Ealing High School 11+ Guide
Notting Hill & Ealing High School GDST is an independent school with entry at 11+ into Year 7. This guide explains who can apply, the assessments, how offers are made and how to prepare. We update it whenever the school changes its admissions.
About the school
- An independent girls' day school in Ealing, part of the GDST.
- About 50 to 55 places for girls from other schools.
Who can apply
- Children in Year 6 (for September 2027 entry, born 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016), registered by the school's deadline.
- Independent schools have no catchment area. You apply to the school directly, not through your council.
- A registration fee is usually payable (often waived for families on low incomes).
Key dates for September 2027 entry
- Registration deadline: 6 November 2026
- Consortium test: late November or early December 2026
- Interviews: January 2027
- Offers: Friday 12 February 2027

The assessments
Consortium test
The London 11+ Consortium test: one online test of about 100 minutes, usually taken at the child's own school. It covers Maths, non-verbal reasoning, English, verbal reasoning, problem solving and creative comprehension. Some sections adapt to the child's answers.
Interview
Every girl who sits the test has a short, informal interview in January. A reference is requested.
How offers are made
Consortium schools send offers on the same day in February.
Scholarships and bursaries
- Academic scholarships are considered automatically.
- Music and Sport scholarships.
- GDST means-tested bursaries from 30% to 100%.
How to help your child prepare
- Consortium test. It is online and timed in short sections. Practise reading carefully on screen, quick Maths and reasoning, and short creative answers.
- Interview. Help your child talk about their interests, the books they read and how they solved a problem. There is no need to learn answers by heart.
- Read every day. Wide reading builds the vocabulary and comprehension every entrance test needs.
- Practice material: The school says practice tests are not available. Consortium familiarisation material is published in the autumn.

Can we apply to several schools?
Yes. Many families apply to a few independent schools and grammar schools. Watch the different registration deadlines.
