Year 9 Maths and Science Tuition

Year 9 is the bridge to GCSE. Many schools start GCSE work this year, and some ask students to choose subjects or science routes. We make sure the Key Stage 3 base is solid and give students a head start on GCSE topics.

What Year 9 students usually learn

Every school teaches topics in its own order. Most schools cover topics like these in Year 9, and we match the class to what the students are doing at school.

Maths

• Linear equations, inequalities and straight-line graphs
• Indices and standard form
• Percentages, compound interest, ratio and proportion
• Pythagoras' theorem and a first look at trigonometry
• Circles, surface area and volume
• Probability

Science

• Biology: genetics and inheritance, respiration, health and disease
• Chemistry: the periodic table, reactions of metals, the Earth and its atmosphere
• Physics: motion and speed, pressure, energy transfers and waves
• Early GCSE topics, where the school has started them

• One live class for the year group on Zoom. There is no travelling.
